The city’s powerful inclusionary zoning ordinance (IZO) requires developers to allocate 20% of their units for affordable housing in Newark. The goal is to create diverse communities and prioritize Newark residents. These efforts focus on balancing development with community benefits, ensuring residents have access to quality, integrated housing options, and that developers contribute positively to the city’s progress.
