Screening of EMERGE: An NJ Symphony Concert Film Trilogy “Maverick Cut” at the Newark Museum of Art
On June 15, 2023, at the Neawrk Museum of Art, over one hundred people attended a special film screening of the Emmy®-winning film, EMERGE “Maverick Cut”, directed by Yuri Alves, starring Xian Zhang and the New Jersey Symphony on June 15, 2023 at The Newark Museum of Art. Express Newark’s Community Media Center, in partnership with DreamPlay Films, New Jersey Symphony and The Newark Museum of Art, presents a special screening of the Emmy® Award winning concert film trilogy, EMERGE, at the Newark Museum of Art.
The event featured, for the first time, director Yuri Alves and producer Igor Alves on stage to discuss the film, along with two of the film’s stars Eric Wyrick (NJ Symphony Concertmaster) and Cori Barnes (Choreographer and Featured Dancer).
The event opened with an hors d’oeuvres and beverages reception in the Museum lobby and closed with a conversation with the filmmakers of the “Made in Newark,” award-winning films. The program also included special awards recognitions for film stars Xian Zhang and Cori Barnes, and concluded with an audience Q&A session, moderated by Yvonne Michelle Shirley (Director of the Community Media Center at Express Newark).
